WHAT IS BARN BOARD Barn board is the siding of an old barn that has been exposed to the elements for a hundred years or more. By being exposed and unprotected from the weather, the boards got deep cracks in the surface and a variation of discolouration. the cracks start to look, over time, like scars that give the wood a very special character. By planning and sanding it carefully and filling old nail holes with wooden pegs, this is very unique and special material for furniture. By choosing barn board, you invite a true piece of Canadian history into your home. I call barn board a Pioneer and witness of the harsh temperatures of summer and winter here in Northern Ontario. Every piece of wood is different in its own way and can not be duplicated with other materials. Its colours are unmatchable by any finishing techniques.
